DALeast is a Chinese born artist who lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa. The 29-year-old, who keeps his real name secret, has been making art since he was three. Its unusual paintings, sometimes hundreds of feet in diameter, looks three dimensional and seems to have been created from thousands of tiny shards of metal.

DALeast showed an interest in drawing since he was two or three. When he grew up, he studied sculpture at the Institute of Fine Arts in his hometown of Wuhan, but dropped in the fourth year - a year before he was supposed to fill. DALeast was disappointed by the play of the conservative spirit and teaching methods. While in his first year, he joined a team of graffiti called Youth Day, which is one of the first active graffiti crews production in China. The teacher hated him because he would often fail the class work rather spend his time in the streets to paint the walls.
Once, just before the Beijing Olympics in 2008, police raided a house where he lived and he and his team stopped graffiti. They thought they were terrorists after seeing the group all night bombing and marking.

DALeast spends six months of the year traveling and walls is marked on almost all continents. His works can be seen in Cape Town, Miami, New York and Brick Lane in London, and his native China.
